We had a really disappointing experience here. The chips tasted strongly of fish, as if they’d been cooked in the same oil used for frying fish. We mentioned it politely to the waiter, but instead of handling it professionally, he became very defensive and insisted the chips were “perfect.” I even asked him to taste one of the chips himself, but he refused and kept saying he already knew they were fine.

He kept asking me to come into the kitchen to see the different cooking areas for fish and chips, which was completely unnecessary and honestly quite strange. We didn’t eat any of the chips — they clearly tasted like fish, and why would we lie?

When he took the chips away and later brought us the bill, he then conveniently claimed he had tried one of the chips in the kitchen and that they were fine, which I find very hard to believe given how strong the fish taste was. Despite all of this, he was rude throughout and still charged us for the chips.

Very poor customer service and an unpleasant experience overall. Definitely wouldn’t return.

Asked if they'd meet my dietary needs prior to going in and they said of course they do me half portions.
Got me seated, took drinks order, and when waiter came they got annoyed with me about ordering a small portion. I've had most of my stomach removed so unable to eat standard size. I said if it's an issue we will pay for our bottle of wine and go elsewhere that will cater for me.
He said he'd honour it this one time🤣

Safely to say they won't be a next time then. The chicken was over cooked and, food not great. Hubby liked his lamb chops though.

We've eaten out at many places and they usually try their best to accommodate my dietary needs.

Not our first visit to Sol Y Mar, we were here 3 years ago and had the most incredible Mixed Grill. It was an obvious choice when returning for food! Food and drink was immense. Keep up the great work!

Had the displeasure of earing here in January, the staff are rude and argumentative. The ribs I got weren't a rack but 3 thrown on a plate with a sauce so strong I couldn't eat them, they gave my husband the wrong sauce on his salmon, he sent it back and the they scraped off the old sauce and poured different one onto and put it back on the plate, barely any chips. This place is twice the price of most places in lanzarote. Avoid it

They have moved fro. Los pocillos to Puerto Del Carmen. Still great food and very friendly run restuarant. We have just eaten at a favourite restaurant of ours Solymar. We were as always welcomed as friends. Food was superb as always. Sea Bass and mixed meats grill. See you next time. Just eaten at our favourite restuarant in Puerto Del Carmen, the dishes are 'Lamb Shank' and 'Chicken Fillet'. 10 out of 10 fantastic food as always. 20th March 2025, yet another lovel meal as always, great welcome and atmosphere, always make a point to eat here.

Had mussels and mixed grill, not bad, but as it was around 10.15 when finished and not many customers left, it was obvious they just wanted us gone so they could go home, so was not asked if wanted a dessert or coffee, and was completely ignored once plate cleared. Sat for a while, but as no one was interested, left and found ice cream somewhere else. Crazy business model.
Food OK, service rubbish unless you finish by 9.30.

Mediocre dining and wine. In the location there are much tastier dining options at better price. Showing the prices in the menu without the IGIC (tax) is American style which I do not want to see anywhere near Europe.
Also calamari romana will get you grilled squid here , which is not correct.
