There were no towels in the bathroom to dry your hands off. When I let them know, she just shrugged her shoulders.
It's just a very cold atmosphere, not friendly at all. They have Pepsi cups everywhere. When she asked me what I wanted to drink and I said Pepsi, she said. "All we have is Coke." She never asked if it was here or to go. And we were eating there. Hand me my drinks in a paper bag and our food in another bag. Like I said, it was just not very friendly at all. I can see why they're closing. And it's sad because I love Zel's.
The one in Crown Point we love. We stopped at the one in Hammond because we were coming back from the doctors appointment in chicago. But we won't be returning, sad to say.😔

Don't get any hot dogs they were like steamed and grey question that they were Nathan's hot dogs? Beef was not hot and the beef n cheddar was as filling as 1 white castle slider for the price it was a huge disappointment Def not the same zels it was 15+yrs ago oh and the fry order was about the size of a happy meal fry I had like 10 fries in my basket!

First time eating here... Really love this place. I got a number one. Big roast beef with fries and a drink. I got mine with Pickles, peppers and mozzarella cheese. Seriously a good sandwich. It's simple, but really hits the spot... the only word of caution I would give is the au jus sauce... this is basically the pan drippings from cooking the beef. That's not a bad thing as it was a great sauce to dip my sandwich in. Not your standard reduction though.

Doordash in a lot of locations, Tennessee where I'm from Delaware where i visit and now here in Indiana. Every now and then you get a pickup from a off beat restaurant. This was one of the unfriendlyest places I ever picked up from. I can't even base it on race because I'm African American, and they were African American, by their actions you would think I had a KKK costume on......😥😥😥😥😥😥

Love their roast beef sandwiches. But since they did away with the giant ,and went to the smaller one at the same price,we don't go as much as we use to. Sadly that decision will be the demise of them,they have been going down hill since.

Food was GOOD! I snuck it into my local theater, lol. Ordered chili cheese dogs, a chili cheese polish and chili cheese fries. I always pass this place on my way to work and didn't even think to stop in until I had a taste for chili cheese something. I would always go to SnS for a chili cheese dog, but never again! Zels beat them in flavor by a long shot. I'm upset I've been missing out! There really isn't negative things to say, other than the dinning area being a bit small/messy. But that doesn't take away from how good the food was.

I was going to Zel's since they first open in the Harbor, since then their price and size has disappointed me.
Now quality has suffered, I ordered a chili dog, it was squishy and looked old.
Bye-bye Zel's, it's been fun.

Zel's roast beef has been an institution in Hammond. My dad would always pick it up for my grandmother in the 90s. To this day my mother loves it anytime I suggest the zel's. They are pricey but roast beef is expensive the quality is always consistent and the food is great. The lady working the front register has been there for about 25 years and she is still pleasant. I recommend if you are willing to spend a little more than fast food to get a quality beef sandwich.

The food the atmosphere was good, but people that worked there tonight. They're really rude ..attitude at a hundred.. Whispering under their breath Saying I should've called in the order very unprofessional. My order wasn't even correct.... i pray for them

Got the classic roast beef and chili cheese. Can't go wrong. Sometimes the meat is a little tough but the flavor is always good.

I dont like going to a place where customer service is rude!! The food overpriced for small portions ! An then i wasnt giving no napkins no ketchup an they forgot sum of my order !! Never again im paying $22 for 2 burgers an 2 fries
